There a lot of stereotypes out there about what a pageant winner is like and how she thinks. We may tend to rely on these outdated stereotypes because they are still rather prominent in the mainstream media. However, these stereotypes generally do not fit the reality of pageants and pageant contestants, but never more so than in the case of this week’s guest, Miss. Canada Universal Elegance, Tetyana Golota.
Tetyana Golota is the type of person you cannot label with one word. She has many different passions, including eco fashion, and many different titles, including Mrs. British Columbia, Mrs. BC Globe, Ms. Canada Universal Elegance, Mrs. Canada World Classic, engineer, model, and brain tumour survivor.
As you’ll see from the interview, Tetyana's journey has been incredible. Although it echo’s a lot of other immigrant narratives, in that she moved to Canada later on in life in hopes of an overall better life for her family, she has several unique points that make where she is now so incredible. Although plagued with disabilities, Tetyana does not let anything get her down. She continues to put her best foot forward, and not just while walking the runway at Vancouver fashion week, in order to help contribute to her community, and the world in general.
I highly recommend this episode. Tetyana is the living embodiment of perseverance. She attempts to show women that no matter how old you are, where you come from, what personal struggles you may be facing, you can overcome the odds and make a difference not only for yourself but for others as well.
