“When it comes to body positivity and what I’m trying to do,
it's really evoking change in a movement that ALL bodies are good bodies just like
all cultures are good cultures...We can’t be prejudice against body size. ”

How many of us can look in the mirror right now and instantly pick out multiple things we’d love to change about our bodies? I think it’s safe to assume the overwhelming majority. There is a colossal skew of what we are told “good” bodies should look like and what the reality of the situation is. Advertisements, TV shows, books, movies, and even our own social circle can all influence how we view ourselves as early as childhood. This is misrepresentation is exactly what my guest creator of FabUplus, Shannon Svingen-Jones , and I discuss this week.
Shannon is the founder and publisher of FabUplus Magazine, the only magazine geared towards plus sized women in North America. On top of that, she is a strong, independent woman who has accomplished a great feat and plans to accomplish much more.
Although Shannon is an avid runner and overall fit individual, due to her size, she has constantly been told she is “unhealthy” and needs to change herself. After years of trying to fit a mould that simply did not work for her, she came to the realization that our health and our shapes do not correlate in the way that the media portrays them to. Most importantly, she learnt that ALL bodies are good bodies.
No matter your size, you can definitely relate to this episode. On top of everything, Shannon also discusses the business side of pursuing her dream and growing her magazine. It really is a special episode you will not want to miss.
